As a system administrator, I am responsible for the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems; especially multi-user computers, such as servers. I have to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers meet the needs of the users.

To meet these needs, I acquire, install, or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; train or supervise staff; or offer technical support for projects. 

While working with IIT Mandi, I gained expertise on below aspects:

    • Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with Servers.

    • Applying server updates, patches, and configuration changes.

    • Installing and configuring new hardware and software on servers.

    • Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, etc.

    • Answering technical queries and assisting users.

    • Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running.

    • Documenting the configuration of the system services.

    • Troubleshooting any reported problems.

    • Ensuring parity between dev, test and production environments.

    • Plan and manage the machine room environment.

    • Ensuring security of servers and network infrastructure. 

    • Training users and subordinates time to time.
